Free Community Workshop: Benefits of Physical Activity and Exercise for Breast Cancer Survivors

Free Workshop at the MedFit Wellness Center!

After diagnosis and treatment for breast cancer, a critical element to thriving in survivorship is regular physical activity! This workshop will present the scientific evidence, from numerous studies, showing regular aerobic exercise and strength training reduces both cancer recurrence, improves quality of life and reduces death from cancer, in survivors.

Presented by Jim Hicks, PhD
James Hicks, PhD is a cardiopulmonary physiologist and former Director of the Exercise Medicine and Sports Science Center at UC Irvine. Dr. Hicks received his PhD in biomedical sciences from the School of Medicine, University of New Mexico, and postdoctoral training at the Max Planck Institute for Experimental Medicine, Germany, and UCSD. He has been a Professor at UC Irvine for 32 years.
